President, Chubb Tempest Re Group
James Wixtead is Senior Vice President, Chubb Group and President, Chubb Tempest Re Group. He leads Chubb’s global reinsurance business operations, which provide a broad range of traditional and specialty reinsurance products to a diverse array of primary property and casualty insurance companies.
Mr. Wixtead has more than 30 years of insurance industry experience. Prior to ACE’s acquisition of Chubb in January 2016, Mr. Wixtead was President, ACE Tempest Re Group. He was appointed Senior Vice President, ACE Group, in July 2014.
From 2005 to 2014, Mr. Wixtead served as Division President of ACE Tempest Re USA, responsible for ACE’s traditional and non-traditional property and casualty reinsurance business in North America. He joined ACE in 2000 as Senior Vice President of ACE Tempest Re USA.
Prior to joining ACE, Mr. Wixtead was Senior Vice President of Gerling Global Re (now HDI-Gerling) from 1998 to 2000. Before that, he held the roles of Senior Vice President for Constitution Re from 1996 to 1998, and Second Vice President for General Re from 1987 to 1996.
He currently serves as an advisor on the Board of Directors for ABR Re.
Mr. Wixtead holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in government from Bowdoin College.
