“I’m constantly trying to understand the business value of a technology solution to the end users — wherever they are — and how my team supports these efforts. Areas like IoT, telematics and intelligent automation all offer great opportunities to contribute right away.”

Anthony Belgrave became interested in technology at age 15 while playing an online game.

Fascinated that others were able to pinpoint his location, his curiosity about how that was done eventually led to a degree in information technology.

Drawn to Chubb because of our Technology Associate Program (TAP), Anthony learned that insurance is a much bigger, more complex industry than simply “home and auto” — and that tech plays a huge role in every facet. TAP — a two-year educational and networking program for early career IT employees — provided intense, hands-on learning experience and the opportunity to develop a real-world product, which he feels accelerated his professional development at the company. “As insurance tech pros, we all needed to operate in this manner to meet the evolving needs of our customers.”

“I’m constantly trying to understand the business value of a technology solution to the end users — wherever they are — and how my team supports these efforts.” He notes that exciting areas like IoT, telematics and intelligent automation all offer great opportunities to contribute right away.

Chubb also provided tuition reimbursement for Anthony’s agile certification course to become a Scrum Master — a facilitator for an agile development team who manages the exchange of information among team members. He says, “The support has been tremendous and allows me to continue learning.” He is now helping to train staff and build best practices in agile methodology, as well as reaching out to students about tech opportunities in the insurance field. “It’s important to me to showcase the diversity of talent within our organization and to share my experiences as a black professional.”
