A focus area of the Chubb Charitable Foundation

Introduction

Chubb focuses its work on mitigating issues that propagate the cycle of poverty.

To help individuals and communities succeed and grow, we support programs that promote economic sustainability, health and wellness for populations with the greatest need, and emergency relief for those at acute risk from major disasters.

Projects

International Rescue Committee

The Foundation has long supported the International Rescue Committee (IRC), which responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises and helps individuals affected by crisis and conflict rebuild their lives. In 2018, the Foundation made a three-year grant to support the organization's Jobs to Careers program, offering basic career training to help refugees enter higher-skill, higher-wage jobs in the U.S. In 2020, Chubb supported IRC’s pandemic relief efforts in crisis-affected countries, as well as vulnerable populations with weak or overstretched health systems that are struggling to effectively combat the virus.

Hansjörg Wyss Wellness Center

Chubb supports the Hansjörg Wyss Wellness Center, which is dedicated to serving South Philadelphia’s significant immigrant and refugee population. The Wyss Wellness Center serves as the hub of Jefferson Health’s clinical and educational outreach activities, bringing primary care and social services to the members of the community, regardless of health insurance or citizenship status. In addition to medical care, clients of the center have access to social, educational and mental health services provided through the Southeast Asian Mutual Assistance Associations Coalition (SEAMAAC), which has been serving refugees, immigrants and asylees for over 35 years.

CARE

CARE works around the globe to save lives, defeat poverty and achieve social justice. Chubb supports CARE’s humanitarian response to the Venezuelan Refugee Crisis in Colombia by providing high quality assistance to meet the urgent needs, such as water, sanitation, shelter and protection services, of 100,000 refugees in Norte de Santander, Colombia. In 2020, services and programs were stepped up significantly with a strong focus on the border areas and helping families navigate new challenges brought on by the pandemic.

Global FoodBanking Network

In response to significant food insecurity needs globally, Chubb’s contribution is helping the Global FoodBanking Network (GFN) provide urgently needed support to food banks around the world, based on GFN’s assessment of areas with the most critical needs. Chubb’s support to the GFN comprises direct grants to Foodbank Australia and Fareshare in the UK, as well as direct grants to food banks in Europe and unrestricted programmatic support.
