Juan Luis Ortega

Juan Luis Ortega is Executive Vice President, Chubb Group and President, North America Insurance. In his role as President, Mr. Ortega has day-to-day executive operating responsibility for North America Insurance both top and bottom line. 

The business units of North America Insurance include Major Accounts, which provides commercial P&C insurance products to the large corporate market in the U.S. and Canada through retail brokers; Chubb Middle Market and Chubb Small Business, the retail commercial P&C insurance businesses that serve the middle market and small commercial clients, respectively, in the U.S. and Canada; Westchester, which offers excess and surplus lines specialty products through wholesale brokers; Chubb Bermuda, which writes high-level excess liability, property, political risk and directors and officers insurance worldwide; North America Personal Risk Services, the personal lines P&C insurance business that serves affluent and high net worth clients in the U.S. and Canada; and the North American Agriculture segment, which includes Rain and Hail, a premier underwriter of multiple peril crop insurance distributed through independent agents, and Chubb Agribusiness, which offers farm and ranch property as well as specialty P&C coverages distributed through brokers and agents for companies that manufacture, process and distribute agricultural products. Mr. Ortega also has senior executive responsibility for financial, surety and property lines in North America. 

Mr. Ortega has more than 25 years of insurance industry experience. Prior to his current role, he served as President, Overseas General Insurance.  He has also served as Regional President of Latin America from 2016 to July 2019; Regional President of the company’s Asia Pacific operations from 2013 to 2016; and Senior Vice President, A&H, for the company's Asia Pacific and Latin America regions. He joined the company, then named ACE, in 1999 and advanced through a series of management positions in Miami, Puerto Rico and Mexico before being named Country President of Chile in 2005, where he was responsible for ACE's P&C, A&H and life insurance businesses in that country. He was appointed Senior Vice President, ACE Group, in April 2015 and Executive Vice President, Chubb Group, in August 2019.

Mr. Ortega earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Business Administration from Universidad Diego Portales, Chile.
